ABOUT

I have always preferred words and pictures (as opposed to numbers!) and feel passionate about the power of the imagination and stories.  I studied English Literature at university and became a primary school teacher in a school I love!  When I’m not dreaming up my own stories, I’m usually reading other picture books to my class at school or to my children at home.

My debut picture book has been five years in the making, yet popped into my head like magic!  Well, not quite magic - my daughter pointed out a pothole in the pavement one day and declared, “Mummy, that’s where the GIANT lives”.  When I looked again it did look like a GIANT’S footprint and ‘The Giant at Number Two’ was born.  I now definitely keep my eyes peeled for magic wherever I go!

I live in Nottinghamshire with my husband, three children, cat, rabbit and hamster.  The food I love the most is cheese and my favourite clothes to wear are my dungarees (I own lots of dungarees!)  When I’m not teaching or writing, I enjoy running, dancing and going for long walks with my family (usually somewhere out in the sticks in Derbyshire).
